As much as Florence gives to those who stop by, it is also a place that asks something of its visitors. Tourism has taken a real toll on the city’s rhythm, and the Florentines who call it home are working hard to protect what makes it so alive. We are lucky — genuinely lucky — to have friends here who have agreed to help us move through the city with care, steering us toward the local artists, makers, and craftspeople who have kept this place’s soul intact.
